Aluminium Standard Extrusions

SD Aluminium holds over 600 standard aluminium extrusions in stock in New Zealand, in 6063-T5 and 6061-T6. Most profiles run in 3 m and 5.95 m stock lengths, and our cutting and punching service takes them down to your sizes before they leave the branch. Extrusion profiles in stock

• Equal angle and unequal angle. Equal angle from 12 x 12 x 1.6 mm to 100 x 100 x 10 mm; unequal angle from 18 x 10 x 1 mm to 200 x 100 x 10 mm.
• Flat bar. From 12 x 3 mm to 160 x 6 mm, for brackets, trims, packers and general fabrication.
• Round tube and scaffold tube. Round tube from 9 mm to 159 mm outside diameter in 6063-T5 and 6061-T6, with wall thicknesses from 1.2 mm to 10 mm. Scaffold tube is 6061-T6 in the 48 mm to 50 mm sizes.
• Square hollow and rectangular hollow. Square hollow including 100 x 100 mm and 120 x 120 mm; rectangular hollow including 100 x 19.7 mm and 120 x 60 mm.
• U channel. From 4.3 x 8 x 0.6 mm up to 300 x 100 x 7 mm.
• Tee bar and Z section. T bar from 19 x 19 mm to 50 x 25 mm, plus Z section.
• Solid round and solid square. Solid round from 9.53 mm to 140 mm diameter; solid square from 10 x 10 mm to 100 x 100 mm.
• Stair nosings, mouldings and sail track. Stair nosing angle, tread and equal trims, plus sail track, in 3 m lengths.
• Powder coated extrusion. Around 100 profiles supplied already powder coated, in angle, flat bar, square hollow, rectangular hollow, round tube and U channel.

Aluminium extrusion questions

What is the difference between 6063-T5 and 6061-T6?

6063-T5 extrudes into finer shapes and takes a better surface finish, which is why it is the usual choice for architectural sections, trims and general fabrication. 6061-T6 is the stronger of the two and is picked when the section has to carry load, which is why the scaffold tube is 6061-T6. The alloy is listed on each product page.

What lengths do aluminium extrusions come in?

Most stock lengths are 3 m and 5.95 m, with some profiles at 2 m, 5.97 m and 5.99 m. The length is part of the product name on every listing, so you can see it before you open the page. Anything shorter comes off the saw through the cutting service.

Can you cut aluminium extrusions to size?

Yes. Add the cutting and punching service to your order and give us the cut lengths and any hole positions. We confirm the charge with the order, so send the cut list through before you place a large one.

How much do aluminium extrusions cost in NZ?

Every profile on this page carries its own price, set by the section size, the wall thickness and the length, so a job can be costed straight off the listings. For volume, a cut list, or a profile we do not hold, send the details to a branch and we will quote it.
